How to Buy Candies in Bulk for Your Vending Business to Increase Profits

Major Bulk Candies Tip!

Profitable Candy Vending can be done best by buying candies in bulk at the best possible price to keep your cost of goods sold to a minimum. Don't overlook this profitable tip!

When I started candy vending as a part of my overall bulk vending business of over 2500 machines, I was amazed to find how much candy really cost when you figured in the candy which had to be thrown out because of spoilage, loss of freshness, or discoloration. I learned people will not buy bad candy from a bulk candy vending machine and that throwing away product would have to be part of my cost to vend certain candies.

Buying candies bulk includes you checking around for the best prices. The best place CONSISTENTLY I have found to buy candy is Sam's Club. Occaisionally I can beat them by buying large amounts and having it shipped in from other areas across the country, but not very often.

Here is a list of the top 3 places to buy candies bulk:

1. Sam's Club
2. Costco
3. BJ's wholesale
4. TJ King (check current sales as their prices fluctuate)

Bulk Candies I have had the most success with:

1. Skittles
2. Reese's Pieces
3. M&M Peanuts
4. Runts
5. Mike & Ike's
6. Hot Tamales

I try not to vend many Mike & Ike's and Hot Tamales because they stick together so bad. Also, Sam's has quit carrying Runts for the most part so I quit vending them recently.

I highly discourage against buying candies in bulk from grocery stores or other small scale stores. You end up paying a high price per vend. Stick with one of the top three stores mentioned above if possible to keep your cost-of-goods as low as possible.

Vendstar 3000 owners particularly need to heed this advice as you are mainly limited to selling candy only in your Vendstars unless you choose to sell Chickles gum. You also have the choice to change the candy dispenser for a gumball dispenser in the Venstar 3000, but generally speaking, Vendstar 3000's are designed to sell candies, and buying candies bulk is a must if you turn a profit on a vendstar.
